Suitability of hydrochloric acid, chloroform, methanol, and formalin as urine preservatives for aflatoxin analysis was examined. Both hydrochloric acid and formalin were unsuitable as preservatives. Seven percent of the urine samples from children contained aflatoxin, the identity of which was established by the chemical confirmatory test for aflatoxin.
